Freeing Nabila – Women for Women International
Every month I do something to liberate another woman on the planet. It’s powerful and it’s awesome.
It costs $27 a month that is directly withdrawn from my checking account and it’s tax deductible. The program is run by Women for Women International.
Last year I helped liberate Bora, a divorced mother of three children in The Congo. The Congo, from what I’ve read in Half the Sky, is likely the worst possible place on the planet for a woman to live. She graduated from the program and started a chicken farm.
Nabila is my new Sister, whom I have the privilege of freeing her from economic dependence.
Economic dependence is the central thing that keeps women enslaved in oppression, discrimination and ancient sucky ideas.
The program will teach Nabila how to manage a budget, how to educate her children, how to run a small business, what her human rights are, how to manage her fertility and prevent sexually transmitted disease, and take responsibility for the healthcare of her children and herself. If she has been victimized she’ll be provided with counseling services and treatment for post traumatic stress.
I love that it’s this easy to make change that will last for generations. Change that, in fact, ensures a more peaceful planet and better International relations between her home country and ours.
Sign up online for Women for Women International and liberate a Sister. It’s fun. It’s easy. It’s powerful.
