Don't Wanna Brag, Or Jinx Myself
I don’t want to brag.
Or jinx myself.
But, I think maybe I’ve got this Summer WAHM thing worked out. I’ve been doing it for seven years, this whole working from home bit. And summers have always sort of knocked me for a loop. The distractions and the constant demands, mixed with the deadlines and increasing responsibility of running my business turned everything into chaotic frustration.
I think I got better at it. I think they got better at it. I think we came to terms with a “normal” that we can all get down with.
The secret, I think, is structure and clear expectations.
Here’s what you’re going to do: chores, reading, walk the dog, etc.
No, there are no crazy cool summer camps to drive to and from. We’re celebrating summer the loooong…slooooooowww…daaaaayyy way. You remember those? The summers where there was so little to do that you learned how to be bored or use your imagination.
Also the structuring of me. I’m not willy nilly making plans in the middle of the day for this or that whatever. NO. I’m keeping my regular business day structure. Get up early. Work. Gym. Work. Pool. Evening stuff. Weekend stuff.
Everyday. Same thing. Until evenings and weekends.
And it’s working. Everyone is getting their stuff done. There is relative peace and quiet. Family harmony.
It’s that kind of summer for us.
You should see our tans.
